Barbara Vernon Baker, 84, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away January 26, 2016 at Providence Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. She was born on November 28, 1931 in Union, South Carolina to Harold Brakefield and Alice Woods Brakefield. She was preceded in death by her loving husbands Robert "Bob" Vernon and Jon C. Baker, one brother and one sister.
Barbara graduated from Columbia High School in 1951. She worked at Cut Above Hairstyling for many years. Barbara was a charter member of Ravenwood Baptist Church in Columbia, SC.
Barbara is survived by her daughter: Kathryn Vernon; granddaughters: Melissa (Aaron) Miller and Kelli Moyer; great grandsons: Ryan and Landon Miller; sisters: Jane Humphries of Columbia, SC and Helen Thomas of Bowie, MD; special family friend: Alan Simmerson; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Saturday January 30, 2016 beginning at 1 PM with a funeral service immediately following visitation at the funeral home. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
