Ena T. Washburn, 80, of Wolf Den Rd., Pomfret Center, died Tuesday afternoon (June 12, 2001) at the Roncalli Health Care in Danielson after an extended illness. She was the beloved wife of Albert F. Washburn, Sr., they were married Nov 27, 1941. She was born November 26, 1920 in Hartford, daughter of the late Frank and Nina (Melfi) Schiavone. She worked for many years in the billing department of Montgomery Wards and later at Putnam Hertzel. She also worked as a sales person at the Antique World in Pomfret. A communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church, Pomfret, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, N. Grosvenordale.

She was a 1938 graduate of Bulkeley High School and had made her home in Pomfret since 1959. She enjoyed the antique business and working and talking with people. She leaves in addition to her husband; a son, Albert F. Washburn, II of Pomfret Center; three daughters, Nina Benway of Pomfret Center, Gail Miller-Brooks of Putnam; Terry Washburn of Pomfret; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, 10am in the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St, Putnam, with the Rev. Paul Hebert officiating. Calling hours Friday, 7-9pm at funeral home. Burial in the Abington Cemetery, Pomfret. Published in The Hartford Courant on June 14, 2001.
