He was born February 15, 1941, at Piqua, Kansas, the son of Francis Henry and Loretta Teresa (Sicka) Massoth. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Piqua attending Piqua Grade School and graduating from Yates Center High School in 1959. He was raised in St. Martin's Catholic Church in Piqua.
He served in the United States Army and following his discharge attended the University of Kansas for a year. He then was employed by the Rural Electric Coop in Cheney, Kansas, as a lineman for 4 years. He then went to work at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita as a civil service electrician where he was employed for 17 years. He then was a partner in M & W Electric in Rose Hill, Kansas for 8 years before being employed by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 271, in Wichita for 10 years until his retirement in 1997.
On October 4, 1969, he and Donna Lea Bockelman were married in Wichita. Following Charles' retirement they made their home in Monkey Island, Oklahoma.
Charles was an avid fisherman and had belonged to several fishing clubs including the Flint Hills Bass Club in Wichita, the Wheatland His and Hers Bass Club, and several others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Massoth; and a granddaughter, Calia Sprecker.
He leaves Donna, his wife of more than 46 years, of Monkey Island; his children, Doug Massoth, Montclair, CA, Jason Massoth and wife Heather, Suwanee, GA, Erick Heiens, Fall River, KS, Debbie Sprecker and husband Trent, Woodbine, IA, and Kim Polk and husband Tom, Georgetown, TX; seven grandchildren, Cayde Sprecker, Addison Polk, and Colby, Conner, Nicole, Maddie, and Chloe Massoth; his brother, Eugene Massoth, Eastvale, CA; two sisters, Teresa Massoth, Maui, HI, and Irene Schuler, Kansas City, MO; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Saturday, January 20, 2016, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Piqua
