Enlisted into the 23rd Georgia Infantry-Co C on 31 Aug 1861 at Camp McDonald, GA and was later transferred to the 65th Georgia Infantry-Co F on 12 Oct 1863. He was captured near Nashville, TN on 16 Dec 1864 and held prisoner until the end of the war.
After the war was over, he married Savannah E Shaw. They migrated to Arkansas about 1876 and settled in Hempstead County.
