William E. Adams Sr., 87, of 3190 West C.R. 350S, Versailles, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at his home.

He was born May 17, 1917, in Madison, the son of E. Harrison and Della Hankins Adams. He was a farmer and was a member of the New Marion Baptist Church.

Surviving are five daughters, Ruth Hyatt of Osgood, Patricia Oney and Cynthia Brunner, both of Versailles, Linda Pickett of Hope and Sherry McNamer of Madison; two sons, William E. Adams Jr. and Robert L. Adams, both of Versailles; one brother, Corbie Adams of Columbus; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Naomi Perkins Adams, in 2001; one daughter, Vicki Adams, in 1974; four sisters, Doris Cozad, Marie Gordnier, Sadie Adams and Alice Mae Adams; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Bovard-Holt-Furst Funeral Home in Versailles, with burial in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Margaret Mary Hospice. Cards will be available at the funeral home.
