Ruth Abney Faulk, 87, of 1547 W. Washington, died Tuesday at Brownsville Medical Center.

A native of Lampasas, she had been a Brownsville resident since 1923. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Brownsville Study Club and the United Methodist Women.

She was an active driver for the Brownsville Crippled Children Society and served with the Yeomanettes in the U.S. Navy during World War I.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Faulk on Nov. 25, 1948.

Survivors include two sons, William A. and Harry Lee Faulk both of Brownsville; a daughter, Mrs. Patsy Horick of Temple, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. H. Lee Griffin and Rev. William Horick officiating with interment at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Pallbearers will be William A. Faulk, Jr., Patrick Faulk, Randy Horick, Ronnie Horick, David Thompson and Ruben Artiaga.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Judge T. Gilbert Sharpe, Judge Reynaldo Garza, Jimmy Pace, Dr. H. A. Miller, John Carr Sewell, Dan Villarreal and Ruben Edelstein.

Friends of the family are making memorial donations to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund and to the Brownsville Crippled Children Society.
