Raymond Harold "Coon" Greenwell of Chattanooga died peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at the age of 86. Coon is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Greenwell, of Chattanooga; sons, Scott (Laura) Greenwell and Todd (Jeannie) Greenwell; grandchildren, Katie (Jon) Cheek; Andrew (Casie) Greenwell and Joseph Greenwell; and great-granddaughter, Ava Cheek.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Belva Greenwell McNutt and Fred G. Greenwell, of Kingsport.

He was born on Dec. 23, 1927, in Kingsport and is a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School.

He served in the United States Army, where he worked at the Pentagon and lived overseas before moving to Chattanooga.

Coon was employed with Kleen-A-Matic in Rossville, for 44 years, where he played a primary role in establishing the companys rental uniform division, and previously served as vice president of sales.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 20, at 4 -6:30 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Ooltewah. Arrangements by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home-Fort Oglethorpe.
