Born August 26, 1891 the second daughter of Alfred Nelson Billings and Elvira Orser Billings in Jensen, Utah. She married Driver Edwin Smith in December 1915. Together they built and operated the "Ute Indian Trading Post" in Vernal, Utah. Vella was an excellent business woman. She ran the trading post until she was 96 years old. She died December 1989 in Bountiful, Utah.
Children: Edwin B. Smith 10/04/1916 - March 1919, B. Orser Smith b. 1919 - d. 1985, Shirley Smith Parmacek b. May 2, 1921 - d. August 1984 (approximate), Larry Smith died as an infant. B. Maurice Smith b. 1/19/1927 - d.3/05/2009, Miriam Smith Lenz b. 9/24/1936?
