Kenneth J. Allen is the son of John Thomas Allen and Maude (Brock)Allen Buchanan.


He was the husband of Betty (Stanfield) Allen.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. at Village Chapel for Kenneth J. Allen, 82, Gadsden, who died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009. Bros. Eddie Ryder and Wayne Brewer will officiate.

Burial in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth was a devoted husband, dad and grandfather. He was a great lover of music who enjoyed life and his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, John T. Allen; mother, Maude Buchanan Allen; brothers, Dewey, Curtis, William and John Allen; sister, Annie Evans; and son, Danny Davidson.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty Allen; son, Kenny (Elizabeth) Allen; daughters, Susan Allen and Mary Etta Barber; grandchildren, Landon, Dalton, Justin, Jantzen and Savannah Jo, Sadie and Autumn; brothers, E.J. Allen, Attalla, and J.T. Allen, Texas; sister, Billie Jo Russell, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to his friends at Northside Health Care and the nurses aides and Dr. Courtney Lowe.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Pitts, David Allen, Danny Tilley, Landon Allen, Michael Sanford and Davey Allen.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ollie Maude Allen Buchanan, 78, Attalla Rt. 2, died Tuesday in a local hospital following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Alfred Tilley, Gerald Orange and Emmett Tilley officiating.

Burial in Deerman's Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Annie Evans, Attalla, Mrs. Edna Nelson, Remlap, Mrs. Billie Russell, Texas; sons, William Allen, Fla., J.W. Allen, Remlap, Dewey Lee and E.J. Allen, both of Attalla, Kenneth Allen, Gadsden, J.T. and Curtis Allen, both of Texas; sister, Mrs. Inez Norred, Birmingham; 51 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers: Jimmy Nelson, Charles Evans, Edward, David, Wayne and Doyce Allen, Wayne Braxton, Ricky Smalley.

Mrs. Buchanan was a native of Georgia and a resident of Etowah and St. Clair Counties most of her life.

The family will receive friends after 11:30 a.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home, Attalla.
