Polly Ragsdale, daughter of Drury Ragsdale, married Charles Owen Hudson on December 15, 1812 in Mecklenburg, Virginia. They moved to Limestone County in 1818 and settled on 640 acres of land located 15 miles west of Athens, Alabama. They brought a number of slaves with them and built a log cabin near the forks of the Tennessee River and the Elk River. The original Hudson Cemetery is located on this homestead.
