DEATH OF MAJOR E. W. CAVE

After a life of useful toil, crowned with many honors, Major E. W. Cave quietly breathed his last at the residence of Mr. A. B. Wilson in the Fairview addition at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon.

The news of his death soon spread to his friends throughout the city and produced sincere sorrow.

Major Cave had been in poor health for some time, and recently he fell while alighting from a street car and sustained a severe shock to his nervous system. Since that time, owing to his advanced age, he has not been able to build up, and Wednesday afternoon it was seen by those who were near and dear to him that he was gradually growing worse though only a few hours before he had announced his intention of undertaking the trip to Fort Worth to spend a season with his daughter at her home in that city.

During the early hours of Thursday morning, he was discovered to be sinking fast, and the watchers around his bedside knew that the end was near. His indomitable will, however, held the grim monster at bay until the hour named above, when, in the presence of his two daughters and other relatives, he peacefully yielded up his spirit to the God that gave it.

The funeral will take place at 3 p.m. today from the residence of Mr. A. B. Wilson, in the Fairview addition. Rev. M. D. Wilson of the Liberty Avenue Baptist church will officiate.

The following persons, all friends and associates of the deceased of many years standing, will act as pallbearers:
Active: Andrew Dow, J. E. McAshan, William Cameron, J. A. Baker, Jr., Frank Lewis, James Lawlor, William Carnes and E. B. Cushing.
Honorary:
R. M. Johnston, T. W. House, W. D. Cleveland, J. O. Carr, Charles Dillingham, R. W. Garrow, J. C. Hutcheson and J. M. Lee.
