Carl A. Clyde, 80, of 1030 Elk Street, died at 11 am Saturday in Franklin Hospital, where he was admitted Dec. 3, following some time of failing health. He was born in Turnersville, Crawford County, Feb. 21, 1888, son of William J. and Mary Heffernan Clyde.
He spent most of his life in Franklin, worked as a machinist and gauger for National Transit in Oil City more than 25 years. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and the Brotherhood Sunday School class, and of the Senior Citizens Group of Franklin YMCA.
In 1911 he married Frances J. Burchfield, who died July 5, 1950.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Angeline Clyde, with whom he lived,; two sons, Lawrence C. Clyde of Kent, OH, and Harold B. Clyde of Chesterland, OH; a sister, Mrs. E E. (Mabel) Gilliland of Franklin; two brothers, Earl S. Clyde of San Diego, CA, and Robert L. Clyde of Oil City; two grandchildren, Andrew B. Clyde and Karen S. Clyde of Chesterland; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Huff Chapel with Rev. Dr. Arthur T. Moffat, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
