Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend completed her mission on this earth on January 16, 2016 at the age of ninety-one.

Norma was born to Carl Fredrick Gutke and Laura Jones Gutke on May 20, 1924 in Holladay. She loved Holladay and lived there for most of her life. She was the youngest of eight loving brothers and sisters. Her mother, father, step-mother (Ella), and each of her siblings preceded her in death.

She graduated from Granite High School in 1942 and continued her education at Utah State University. She married Daniel S. Ellis in the Salt Lake Temple on February 4, 1949.

Throughout her life, she served faithfully in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Relief Society President, Primary Presidency, Jr. Sunday School Coordinator, Ward Newsletter Editor, and many others.

Norma loved life and thoroughly enjoyed each and every calling she held through the years and considered each of them a blessing. She had a special place in her heart for those she taught in the Special Needs Primary for ten years after she retired as a legal secretary from Parker, McKeown and McConkie.

She was very proud of her pioneer ancestry and was an active member of The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Norma's family was very important to her. She had a great love for each of them, including her nieces and nephews. She valued her many friendships.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel; children, Randall (Linda), Chino Valley, Arizona; Scott (Joy/deceased), Salt Lake City; B. Carl (Kathy), Holladay, Laura June, Holladay; and Blair Bateman, a son in her heart, Provo; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendi Ann, who died as an infant; and a daughter-in-law, Joy Oakland Ellis.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holladay Tenth Ward Chapel, 4601 South Chapel Street (2565 East), Holladay. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, Millcreek, and prior to the services at the church on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment will be in the Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 South Memory Lane (1990 East), Holladay.
