Mrs. Ella Ann Bates Stiles
Mrs. Ella Ann Bates Stiles, 60, a most beloved woman, died at her home on Hickory Knoll Creek, November 24. She was born in Macon County and had lived here during her lifetime. When a mere girl the deceased joined Coweeta Baptist Church and remained a faithful and loyal member until called by the grim reaper. In 1884 she married Judson J. D. Stiles. The remains were interred at Coweeta Cemetery the day following death. Dr. W. M. Lee and Rev. A. J. Smith conducted the funeral services.
The deceased is survived by her husband and the following named children: Mrs. Mary Mae Gray, Mrs. Lela Cunningham, Miss Helen Stiles, Thomas W., Claude D., and George T., all of Macon County; Mrs. Hermie T. Lawson, Henry H., Mrs. Sadie E. Penland, all of Washington State; J. Brackenridge Stiles, Orville J., and F. Verrell, all of California. Other surviving relatives are: father, John Gray Bates, of Macon County; brothers; H. J. Bates of Georgia, R. D. Bates of Texas, E. N. Bates and S. M. Bates, both of Washington State. In all 12 children and 28 grandchildren survive.
