Ken was the son of the late Samuel and Josephine (Hagan) Ackerman.

He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Agriculture from Ohio State University, and Masters in Economics from Ohio University. He retired from Ohio State University where he served the majority of his career as the Athens County Agricultural Extension Agent. He was a life member of the VFW of Athens, Past President of Athens Rotary Club, and was honored by the Chamber of Commerce in Athens County as Citizen of the Year.

Ken and Sue operated Ackerman Antiques and enjoyed traveling the United States. He was an avid reader, historian, and genealogist. He deeply loved his family, learning, and a good debate.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Myron and Keith Ackerman.

He will be missed by his loving wife of 69 years, Sue; son Allen; daughter Susan; grandchildren, Sarah, John, Mike, and Stacy; great grandchildren, Andrew and Lillian; sister Wilda; daughter-in-law, Sue; sister-in-law, Evelyn; several nieces and nephews.
