Jack H. Jorgensen, 63, was received into the arms of Jesus on a Friday, at Marquette General Hospital, following complications from pneumonia.

Jack was the son of Jack H. Sr. and Lydia Mae (Dick) Jorgensen. He was raised in Lansing, Harrison, and Manton, Mich. He graduated from Manton High School class of 1966. While at Manton High School he played basketball. Following graduation, Jack served his country in the U.S. Navy, stationed on the U.S.S. Independence.

Jack was united in marriage to Joy Vanderwal on Dec. 4, 1971, in Cadillac, Mich. They made their home in Gladstone where they raised their three children.

Jack worked for the DNR where he was stationed in Escanaba, Newberry and Wells State Park from 1971 until his retirement in 2002. He served as waterways supervisor and later as parks and recreation supervisor.

Jack was an active member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone where he served for many years on the Board of Trustees. He was also a member of the State Employees Retirement Association, U.P. Whitetails Association and the National Wildlife Turkey Federation.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening and woodworking. Following his retirement, he turned his woodworking hobby into a second career building custom cabinets and hardwood trim. He also enjoyed cooking and his family fondly remembers his "specialty soups." Jack's family and especially his grandchildren were very important to him and he treasured spending time with them.

In addition to Joy, his wife of 40 years, survivors include his children, Jodi Lynn (Earl) Possi, Jason (Suzan) Jorgensen, and Jenny (Chad) Mileski; brother, Terry (Karen) Jorgensen; sisters, Catherine (Ron) Nye, and Jenifer (Luther) Deace; grandchildren, Cole and Sierra Possi, Caroline, Jacob and Carter Mileski, Wyatt and Ally Jorgensen; stepfather, Harold VanWyck of Manton, Mich.; mother-in-law, Anna Vanderwal; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts and many cousins.
