Hotel Man, Builder, Dies

J. D. Blanton, 74, of 6335 W. Northwest Highway, who built several hotels here and the building that bears his name, Blanton Towers, died here Thursday.

Blanton, a native of Belton, Bell County, was a 22-year resident of Dallas.

He built the Tower Hotel Courts and the Executive Inn here, as well as Blanton Towers, and the Cabana Hotel in Palo Alto, Calif. He was owner of the Tower at the time of his death.

He was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Centenary College school of law in Shreveport, La.

Survivors: Wife; a sister, Mrs. Orean Lacy of San Augustine; a brother, Ralph Blanton of Euless; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in East Chapel of Hillcrest Mausoleum, with entombment in Hillcrest Mausoleum.
