Winona Post Jan 19, 2016
Rose Marie (Arnoldy) Saehler, age 89, resident of Minnesota City, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016, surrounded by family at Lake Winona Manor.
Rose was born on January 15, 1927, in Rollingstone, Minn., to Matthias and Anna (Kirzinger) Arnoldy. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Rollingstone in 1945. She enjoyed school and living in a small, close-knit community. She had a wonderful youth and kept close to many childhood friends.
She met a handsome, young baseball player from Minnesota City and the rest is history. Rose married Bill Saehler on April 30, 1949, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone. They made their home in Minnesota City where they raised eight children.
Mom was a small town girl who fell in love with the country life. She raised flowers and vegetables in a greenhouse that was built by her husband and father-in-law. She enjoyed bookkeeping and worked at Lyle's Interiors part-time for many years.
Her Catholic faith was of utmost importance to her and she never faltered in sharing that faith with her family. Rose will be fondly remembered for her love of sewing, quilting, gardening, and spending time with her family.
She had many other interests which included arranging flowers for church, singing in the choir, making quilts, playing cards, and organizing annual campouts at Whitewater State Park.
Rose Marie will be greatly missed by her children, Edward (Kathy) Saehler, John (Peggy) Saehler, Ann (John) Orzechowski, Mary (Tom) Styba, Becky (Dave) Korder, William Jr. (Donna) Saehler, Theresa (Patrick) McCamley and Susan (Mike) Smith; 28 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many more relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Helen (Arnoldy) Speltz, Alfred Arnoldy, Erwin Arnoldy, Josephine Arnoldy, Thomas Arnoldy, Norbert Arnoldy, and William Arnoldy.
A visitation will be held at Fawcett Junker Funeral Home on Friday, January 22, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. with the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Winona.
