James was born 3 November 1892 in Ayr, Nebraska. He moved to Salina in 1960 from Junction City. A retired farmer, he was a member of the Mentor United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs Margaret Woolverton, Rt 2, Mrs Ethel Schneweis, 908 S 9th, Mrs Betty Beebe, Smolan; two sons, Marion F., Amann, Jordon, and Jerry, Kansas City, Missouri; three step-daughters, Mrs Daisy Cooper, Rowland Heights, California; Mrs Anna Backman, Russell, and Mrs Alberta Sebesta, Wilson; two step-sons, Bill Mason, Blythe, California, and Elmer Mason, Independence, Missouri; 32 grandchildren, and 48 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held at the Ryan Mortuary with the Reverend Harry Tysen officiating.
