Marian R. Adams Sharpe, who lived in Gasport for more than 60 years, died Thursday in Odd Fellows & Rebekah Rehabilitation and Health Care Center after a brief illness. She was 85.
She was born Marion Golden in Utica. Her father was a lock tender on the Erie Canal, and the family moved to several upstate cities in her youth, eventually settling in the Lockport area.
Mrs. Adams Sharpe worked as a production employee at Harrison Radiator Division for a short time after the death of her first husband.
She enjoyed fishing, knitting and spending time at her cottage in Canada. She lived in Gasport until 2000, when she moved to Lockport.
Her husband of 11 years, Kenneth Adams, died in 1951. Her husband of 43 years, Adelbert J. Sharpe, died in 1996.
Survivors include four sons, Roger Adams and Ronald Adams, both of Lockport, John Adams of Gasport and Charles Sharpe of Goldsboro, N.C.; two daughters, Nancy L. Smith of Lockport and Karen Sharpe of Gasport; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 2 p.m. Monday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St. Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.
