Gertie was the daughter of Willie Ida (Lindsey) & James "Jim" Alexander Burchett.

Married Bedford Beckham "BB" Rose on Feb. 24, 1926 in Montgomery County, TN. They eloped.

BB & Gertie had 8 children:
Jesse Imogene (1927-2015))
Beckham Houston "Hugh" (1929-2008)
Dorothy Alene "Snookie" (1930-2015)
Betty Joyce (1935-2023)
Harold Bedford "Coach" (1940-2014)
Charles Douglas "Doug" (1943-2014)
Ann Carolyn (1944-Alive)
Helen Dale (1947-Alive)

Early in their marriage they lived in Cleveland, OH and worked at a hospital, then eventually moved back to KY and lived on a number of farms, the final one being in Elkton, KY. They raised dairy cows when the kids were home. They always had horses, most of the grandkids loved to take pictures on the horses and some would ride them. They also raised goats and sold them to members in the community and also raised hogs at one point. The best story of my grandma was that on one farm, she would shoot rattlesnakes with a shotgun when climbing up the bricks on the farm house.
