Jim was a graduate of Danville High School and after graduation he honorably served his country in the Army during WWII. In 1970, Jim founded Blubaugh Body and Frame Service. He was a member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Council 910 Danville, the VFW, American Legion and the Elks. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed boating, golfing, wood working and spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Kathleen “Katie” (Frye) Blubaugh, whom he married on October 30, 1947; daughters, Anne (Kevin) Costello of Dublin, Rosemary Strahler of Lewis Center and Eileen (John) Parent of Naperville IL; sons, Richard “Rick” (Dalis) Blubaugh of Kissimmee, FL, Louis (Rebecca) Blubaugh of Mount Vernon and Gregory (Linda) Blubaugh of Mount Vernon; 25 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren; sister, Polly Gardner of Danville; brother, Raymond (Pat) Blubaugh of Oregon; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son, Brian J. Blubaugh; grandson, Jason P. Blubaugh; and sisters, Evelyn Shults and Dorothy Higgins.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon. The Rosary will be recited following the evening visitation.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Father Homer Blubaugh as the Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
