Born on August 8, 1920 to Augusta (nee Firgens) and Herman Gerndt and entered into God’s loving arms on Friday, January 15, 2016., age 95 years. Survived by his loving wife Muriel (nee Redeker) of 69 ½ years. Dear father of Kathie Bishop (Dennis Reed), Brenda (Brian Joers), Brad M. Gerndt (Sheila Gerndt), Grandfather of Krista (Dan Schultz), Brett (Teisha) Gerndt, Stephanie Gerndt, Great-Grandfather of Brandon Bishop, Kayla and Alexis Schultz; Brother to Florence Stillman and George (Elda) Gerndt. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. Preceded in death by his brothers Vernon Gerndt and Orval Gerndt, and his sisters, Lucille Christiansen and Marian Dzurick.

He retired from Motor Transport Company after 42 years of top safe truck driving service and Colonial Manor after 10 years of service. Millard is a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brown Deer, WI. He and his wife enjoyed several decades square dancing and round dancing around the nation belonging to West Bend Square Steppers. He loves his family dearly and took them camping, fishing, picnicking, and traveling. This “wooly bear” was also a hunter of deer which he admitted was secondary to getting out into the great North Woods near where he was from in Suring, WI. He loves God’s Beautiful Nature and taught his children to do the same, always leaving a site cleaner and better. Woodworking and gardening with roses and his raspberry patch being his forte are passions of his.

Visitation will be held at ST. PAUL'S EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH (8080 N. 47th St., Brown Deer, WI 53223) on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 10am - 12Noon with Services at 12Noon. Private internment Wisconsin Memorial Park.
