Another scion of the line of Keawe has passed away, Her Royal Highness Princess Mary Kinoiki Kekaulike, Governess of the Island of Hawaii, died at her residence at Ululani, on the 8th inst., at 10 A. M. of heart disease. The late Princess was born May 12, 1843, and thus was 40 years and 8 months old at the time of her demise. Her Royal Highness was one of three daughters of Kaleianaole, Kuhio and Kinoiki, and was the youngest sister of Her Majesty the Queen.The deceased Princess was married to the High Chief David Kahalepouli PIikoi in 1861, and had issue by this marriage the Princes David Kawananakoa, Edward Abnel Keliiahonui, and Jonah Kuhio Kaleianaole, all now living. The late Princess succeeded Her Royal Highness the Princess Likelike as Governess of Hawaii. On the occasion of the Coronation of their Majesties the King and Queen, the family of the late Princess was restored by letters patent of His Majesty to the dignity and honor of the blood royal, being lineal descendants of Kaumualii the Sovereign of Kauai.
