Robert E. Hansen, 91 of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, after a long illness.
He was born on July 6, 1924, in Jackson, Wyo., to Peter Christopherson and Sylvia Irene (Wood) Hansen on the family ranch. He married Jo Dean Draper in Jackson on June 1, 1946, and they later moved to California in 1962, then returned to Jackson in 1979 and eventually settled in Idaho Falls in 1999.
He was a life-long member of the Elks Lodge in Jackson and served twice as Exalted Ruler. He was an avid fisherman, and loved to golf. They traveled the country in the RV, camping and boating. He bowled until he was 88 years old.
He was a skilled and talented craftsman in leather and woodworking. He built two homes in Jackson and later built their home in Idaho Falls.
Robert is survived by his wife Jo Dean of Idaho Falls; children: Ralph (Linda) of Central Point, Ore., Steven (Susan) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Kathy (David) Peters of Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Clifford P. Hansen; sisters: Parthenia Stinnet, Geraldine Frances, Helen Miller and Ordeen Yeary.
Memorial services will be planned at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th St, Idaho Falls, ID 83404.
