Glennie 'Eloise' Parker Harren, 93, of Granite Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 24 at Frye Regional Medical Center.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 27 at First United Methodist Church of Granite Falls. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Howard Fleming and Tom Hunter officiating. The burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

She's preceded in death by her husband James Suther Harren; parents Jack and Maggie Parker; brothers Hosea, Spencer, Garland and Jackson Parker; sister Jean P. Salter; sister-in-law Louise Parker and grandson Andrew Harren.

Eloise was born on March 16, 1925 in Onslow County, North Carolina.

She moved to Granite Falls after her late husband's deployment and called the town home for most of her life. Eloise was the matriarch of her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and many other countless roles to her family. She worked many years as a faculty secretary at Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute. Eloise enjoyed helping others by spending much of her retirement giving back to organizations like Meals on Wheels and South Caldwell Christian Ministries. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Granite Falls.

Eloise is survived by son Michael Harren and wife Libby; daughter Kathy Davis and husband Bill; daughter Mary Beth Turner and husband Don; grandchildren Joshua Harren, Emily Davis, Jessica Turner, Katie Davis and Natalie Turner; great-grandchildren Kaylee Harren, Ariana Harren, Jaxson Poteet and Bryson Harren; brother Douglas Parker and wife Anita; sister Janice P. Bean; sisters-in law Letha Parker, Kay Parker and Athaleta Hendrix; brother-in-law Ed Salter, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute scholarship fund. Arrangements by Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Granite Falls.
