Leroy Harold Baker, of Old Gettysburg Road, Emmitsburg, MD; at the age of 65, died Wednesday, January 17, 1990 at the Gettysburg Hospital, Gettysburg, PA. Leroy was born July 19, 1924 in Thurmont, MD; He was the son of the late Roy and Anna (Koch) Baker. He is survived by his wife Rita Mary (Wivell) Baker. Leroy was a Technical Sergeant with U.S. Army Air Corps, World War II Veteran. He was a member of the China Burma India Veterans Association in Harrisburg, PA; and the American Legion Francis X Elder Post 121 of Emmitsburg, MD; He was a member of the Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg, MD; and the Knights of Columbus Brute Council 1860. He retire in 1962 from the Mack Truck in Hagerstown, MD; as an external grinder. Also surviving is his sister Helen Ann Eyler of Gettysburg, PA; and two brothers, Donald F Baker of Gettysburg, PA; and George W Baker of Emmitsburg, MD; The funeral service will be held Monday January 22, with the family meeting at the Skiles Funeral Home in Emmitsburg, MD; at 9:30am to go to the Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. His Pastor the Rev Alfred Pehrsson will be in Celebrant. Burial will be in the Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm Sunday, at the funeral home.
