Mrs. Simon Gilbert
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 1995 at a Mass of Christian Burial in the Martin and Castille Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Simon Gilbert, 82 the former Ella Prejean, who died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 1995 in the Bethany M.H.S. Health Care Center.
Entombment will be in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery Mausoleum in Scott.
The Rev. Monsignor Harry Benefiel will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the services.
Survivos include; her husband, Simon Guilbert of Lafayette; two daughters, Mrs. Romain Theo (Daisie) LaBorde of Lafayette and Mrs. Malcolm (Nelda) Latour of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Ena P. Benton of Lafayette; and one brother, Millard "Joe" Prejean of Pass Christian, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by; her parents; two brothers Louis Prejean and Wilbert Prejean; and one sister, Sarah Domingue.
A native of the Ossun Community and a resident of Lafayette since 1948, Mrs. Gilbert was the daughter of the late Rousseau Prejean, a native of Bosco and the former Lorena Castille, a native of Mire.
Pallbearers will be: William John LaBorde, Cecil Gilbert, Steven James LaBorde, Michael Richard "Rick" Johnson, Dr. Jonathan Latour and Dudley Weber, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers are: Romain Theo LaBorde, Dr. Malcolm Latour, James Wright and Glen LaBorde.
A rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 10:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. Friday and to continue from 8 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
The Martin and Castille Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
