Ruby Nell (Harris) Pruitt, 96, of Union City passed away 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Union City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday at East Side Cemetery in Martin. Brother Jerry Leggett will officiate. Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Ms. Pruitt was born August 31, 1919, in Obion County, daughter of the late James Monroe and Ollie (Tubbs) Harris.

Ms. Pruitt was a graduate of the former Martin High School.

She worked in Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, D.C. before returning to Obion County where she worked at the former Sears & Roebuck in Union City for thirty five years before retiring in 1984.

She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by two nieces, Martha Brock of Sardis, Mississippi and Barbara Jean Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada; one nephew, Brent Osborne; and her caregiver, Janis Cunningham of Troy.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Ann Pruitt; her sister, Eva Maudine Osborne; her brother, Ben Harris; and one nephew, David Orton.
