Mrs. Sarah Apland, the mother of Mrs. Albert Romsa living ten miles north and east of Estherville, died March 2 and the funeral was held at the home of Mr. Romsa last Wednesday at 11 a.m., Rev. Edward Campbell officiating. Mrs. Apland was born in December, 1818 in Norway and came to American a number of years ago, settling in Story county, Iowa. She is the mother of four children, two of whom survive her.
The death of this aged pioneer who has been known so long by a wide circle of friends and so highly esteemed, will be mourned by young and old alike.
The remains were interred in the cemetery north of the city [Norwegian]. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, March 11, 1908)
