No one could fail to be impressed by Albert's vocabulary and conversational acumen, it was said he could stand on the road until dawn entertaining people with his wit. Albert was an athlete in his youth; even in old age, ladies invited him to veillee, or to dance at soirees.

His friend Lucy James, once sent him white canvas "duck' trousers, so that Albert would dance at her house party. Albert was a favourite of his mother, always enjoyed finding the attention of a genteel lady to converse with. He had kept the account ledgers of the Peter Du Val Company bound in red leather, loved reading about the Norman adventurers who he claimed as ancestors.

Albert was very excitable, strong and forceful. Albert wore a large beard in later years, converted to Catholicism, after his wife's death. Albert had a remarkable presence, especially with the large beard he wore in his final years.

He was buried at Bonaventure Island in the presence of his son William and granddaughter, Edith.
