TEXAS CITY — John Daniel "Buck" Buckhannon, 79, of Texas City, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Columbia Mainland Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Hardwick officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.

Mr. Buckhannon was born February 8, 1919, in Austin,
Texas. Buck was previously active in the Texas City lions Club and Optimist Club. He was employed by the Frito-Lay Company for many years before becoming co-owner of the Plantation Minit Markets. He served his country in the US Army.

He was preceded in death by Anis parents J.D. and Ora Buckhannon, sisters Betty and Dorothy, brother Mitchell, and son Danny Buckhannon.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Frances Jones Buckhannon of Texas City, sons James Orr of Dickinson, Michael Orr and his wife Trebie of Texas City, and Ken Buckhannon and his wife Paula of Grapevine;
daughters Carolyn Young and her husband Ray of De Soto and Dorothy Delano and her husband Tom of Temple; grandchildren: Joey-Michelle Orr, Wilson Orr, Kimberlie McLaughlin, Dawn Buckhannon, Craig Young, Scott, Mark and Jeff Delano, and Shane Buckhannon, special sister-in-law Susan Jones of Birmingham, Alabama; nephew Alan Jones of Dickinson and niece Kathy Watson of Pell City, Alabama.

Pallbearers will be Leonard Bell, Charles Thompson, Doug Sheridan, Scot Roach, Mike Tucker, and James A Deggs.
