Florine Fanning Shellhouse, 93, wife of the late Robert W. Shellhouse, Sr. passed away peacefully on January 10, 2016. She was born on March 14, 1922 to the late John Allen and Beulah Vann Fanning.
Interment will follow in Historic Bethany Cemetery.
Mrs. Shellhouse lived most of her life in the Shaws Fork Community where she was famous for her "hot suppers" and fish fries at the "Pond House". She was a long time member of Shaws Fork Baptist Church. Upon moving to downtown, she joined Aiken's First Baptist Church. She was retired from Aiken Electric Cooperative after 22 years of service as a receptionist. "Flo" was an avid gardener and former member of Country Gardeners Garden Club. She was also a former member of Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of the local Red Hat Society, and served as a volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary of Aiken County at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Flo will be remembered as a gracious hostess and a true "Southern Lady,"
Mrs. Shellhouse is survived by a son, Robert W. (Brenda) Shellhouse; granddaughters, Tricia (Brad) Swartz, Savannah, Ga. and Breigh Anne (Graham) Hall, Aiken; great grandchildren, Lily Kate and Abigail Tara Swartz and Robert Pierson Hall. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Tara Lee Shellhouse and brothers Robert Fanning and John Fanning.
