In memoriam of Green Williamson Smitheal, III, 08/20/1955 - 01/08/2016

Green Williamson Smitheal, III, 60, of Dyersburg, died Friday, January 8, 2016 at his residence. Born August 20, 1955 in Memphis, TN, he was the son of the late Green Smitheal, Jr. and Laura Lee Drane Smitheal. He was a farmer, landowner, and a lifelong member of Dyersburg First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder and a member of the Robert T. Kerr Sunday School Class. Green was a 1973 graduate of Dyersburg High School and a 1977 graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He was an Eagle Scout and achieved the level of Wood Badge. He served on the Board of Directors at First Citizens National Bank and the Farmers Co-Op.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2016 in the Sanctuary at Dyersburg First Cumberland Presbyterian Church conducted by Reverend Paul Tucker and Reverend Annetta Camp with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers wil l be Danny Dedmon, Bobby Grooms, Jim Hamilton, Patrick Heckethorn, Montie Rogers, Marvin Schultz, Jimmie Wilkes, Danny Willis and Paul Yarbro.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 10th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the funeral home and also Monday morning from 10:00 am – 10:45 prior to the service in the Parlor at the church.

He is survived by his wife Melissa (Missy) West Smitheal; 2 sons, Wes Smitheal of Nashville, David Smitheal of Meridian, MS; his sister, Rebecca Smitheal Laine (Craig) of Nashville; and his niece Laura Laine and nephew Wilson Laine.

The family requests memorials be directed to Dyersburg First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 2280 Parr Avenue, Dyersburg, TN 38024 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
