Georgia Lee Whetham, 76, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Central Wyoming Hospice Center.

Georgia was born to George and Wilma (Shaw) Solomon on July 14, 1939 in Casper, WY. A few years later, she was blessed with a brother William Solomon. He was a devoted supporter, her best friend and her rock. She graduated from Natrona County High School in 1958 and then earned her registered nursing degree at Carroll College, Helena, MT.

She married Walter Wayne Whetham August 25, 1963. Together they were blessed with four children; Kassie, Vivian, Walter, and Sarah.

Georgia worked for over thirty-eight years at the Wyoming Medical Center as a registered nurse and for most of career she worked on the pediatric ward. She was a gifted nurse and took care of many of Casper’s ailing children and their families. She was very influential in and encouraging of her stepdaughter, Lindsey’s, choice to go into nursing.

Georgia enjoyed many hobbies including volleyball and bowling when she was younger. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and when the opportunity arose, traveling. She enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses. She loved taking care of babies, especially her own, and her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her four grandchildren. They affectionately called her “turtle” as her declining health slowed her down but didn’t stop her from spending time with them. She was a kind, compassionate and forgiving soul. She had, however, a stubborn streak that was unconquerable.

Georgia was a devoted and loving wife and is survived by her husband of over fifty-two years, Walter Wayne Whetham of Casper, WY. She is survived by her beloved children, Kassie Whetham of California, Vivian “Chris” Whetham of Casper, WY, Walter Wiley Whetham of Las Alamos, NM and Sarah Lynn Whetham of Aurora, CO. Additionally she is survived by three step-children Lindsey Hayward (Gordon) and Wendy Stewart of London, England and James Whetham (Joanne) of Ipswich, England. Her grandchildren include Timothy James Whetham of Casper, WY, Aspen Edwards of Denver, CO, Austin and Addison Whetham-Cogburn of Aurora, CO and her step grandsons Yusuf “Jo” Whetham and Owen Hayward of London, England, as well as, numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded into death by her parents.
