Emarilla "Emily/Emma" was the 2nd of 4 children of
Frederick Yerian and his 2nd wife, Jane (Shipley) Keith
She married 1st about 1866 to George Washington Crooks, son of Joseph Crooks. He was born 1842 in Morgan County, Ohio, and died July 25, 1875. He is also buried in Cisne Cemetery.
She married 2nd November 2, 1876, in Wayne County, Illinois, to Isaac Smith, son of Archibald and Mary Smith. He was born September 25, 1832, in Jefferson County, Ohio, and died September 26, 1925, in Wayne County, Illinois. He is also buried in Cisne Cemetery.
Emma and Isaac lived about a mile west of the Blue Point Free Will Baptist Church. They attended the First Christian Church in Cisne, IL. Emma had amazing knowledge of herbs and their medicinal qualities. She could do everything fron takng the "fire" out of a burn to removing a wart and would tend to the illnesses of local neighbors.
