Br. Martin was born on the 7th of July, 1932 in Butler, Alabama, and so was 83 years old. He entered the abbey on the 21st of June, 1960. He made his first profession on the 2nd of June, 1963 and was solemnly professed on the 27th of October, 1968.
For most of his time here, Br. Martin was the plumber and handyman. He also helped many neighbours when their plumbing needed attention.
He was a warm and gentle man and dedicated to the abbey.
For the past few years, Br. Martin suffered from Alzheimer's and was confined to the infirmary.
