Oswald Snider Carlton was born October 25, 1868 in Brundidge, Pike County, Alabama, to Dr. Snider Miles Carlton and Nancy Clark Satterwhite. He stood 5ft 10in tall, had gray eyes, brown hair and a fair complexion. He was married to Johnnie King Mendez in about 1891. They had two sons, Alva L. and Oswald S. Oswald was a life insurance agent in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. He enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a SPECIAL RANGER on January 12, 1918 thru Jan 14, 1919. He retired from the life insurance company president and landowner, Houston and Livingston, Polk County, Texas. He again enlisted in the SPECIAL RANGERS on September 20, 1933 thru 1935. In 1933, he stated that he was 20 years a private special or honorary Ranger. Oswald Snider Carlton died February 19, 1934 in Livingston, Polk County, Texas. I do not know where he was buried.
