Mr. George Ivey Bennett, age 78 of Doraville, Georgia, formerly of Ellijay, GA passed on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, He was a member of Skyland United Methodist Church, born February 28, 1937 in Lagrange, GA to his late parents George Clyde and Mae Will Gordon Bennett. Mr. Bennett graduated Gilmer High School Class of 1956, attended North GA College and studied radiology at the Radiology School at Grady Hospital. Mr. Bennett served honorably in the United States Army, was a member of Gideons International, Full Gospel Businessmen Assoc., Walk to Emmanus and Karios Prison Ministry. He was a Special Procedure Tech at the Veteran's Administration Hospital for over 35 years. Mr. Bennett enjoyed working in the GOD Mobile, hunting and fishing. He is preceded in death by sons Jon & Jim Bennett. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gideons International, N.E. Camp, P.O. Box 29882, Atlanta, GA 30359 or Skyland United Methodist Church, 1850 Skyland Terr., Brookhaven, GA 30319, in memory of George "Buddy" Bennett.

Survivors include wife, Jean Stewart Bennett; daughter Jinnifer E. Hoyla, grandchildren Joseph, Elizabeth and Isabel Hoyla; sisters Sydney Tankersley, Gina (Jack) Boland, Rita (Larry) Johnson.

Visitation will be held from 10;00 am until 11:00 am at the Skyland United Methodist Church on January 9, 2016. Funeral will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Dan McFarland, Rev. Joy Ledoux and Rev. Perry Shelfer officiating. Interment will be in the GA National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Monday January 11th, at 10:30 am.
