Darlene Neufeld (Moon) died on January 6th after a long battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Jay Neufeld; her daughters, Tamara (Arthur) Baldasari of New Hope, Pennsylvania and Gina Hackworth (Scott) of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; grandsons, Calvin and Neil Baldasari and Dustin and Lucas Hackworth. She is also survived by three siblings, Carol Richardson of Haysville, Kansas, Francis Nine of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Deborah Rodriguez of Blackwell, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmie Moon in 1999, her parents, Frankie and Lucile Nine, and her infant brother, Ralph.

Darlene was born December 24, 1937 in Shattuck, Oklahoma and grew up on a farm north of Gage, Oklahoma. Shortly after graduating high school, she decided to follow her ambitions and move to Oklahoma City. She soon met her first husband, Jimmie Moon, and started a family. She worked in administrative offices at a number of Oklahoma City companies but she took most of her pleasure in life through her family, personal relationships and traveling.

After her first husband, Jimmie, passed away, Darlene began her second phase of life. She joined the Oklahoma City Swing Dance Club and met the man who would soon become her second husband. Darlene and Jay married in 2005 and greatly enjoyed the friendships they made and spent the next 10 years dancing and traveling the world.

Darlene also had many passions in life. As a young mother, she found time to volunteer at the Oklahoma City Arts Festival and she enjoyed painting and sewing. One of her favorite trips was to California where she and friends sat in the audience to watch the taping of “Dancing with the Stars.”

Darlene instilled in her daughters a strong sense of independence and always encouraged them to make their own decisions. Her unique personality, calm demeanor and adventurous spirit will be greatly missed. She was privileged to spend the last few weeks of her life surrounded by family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Mercer Adams in Bethany, OK on January 9th at 10:00 a.m. with reception to follow. To share a memory or condolence, visit www.mercer-adams.com www.mercer-adams.com
