Shawnee resident, Sandra "Sandie" Lee Alverson, 69, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Sandie was born on November 27, 1946 in Liberal, KS to J.C. and Opal (Jones) Shipps.

She married Gary Alverson on June 1, 1968. She was an active and devoted founding member of Family of Faith Church. She spent many hours praying and volunteering. She was an English teacher at Family of Faith Christian School for 17 years. Sandie's passion in life was her family and spending time with them. She always looked forward to their annual trips to Colorado. Sandie was a homemaker, wife, mother, and dear friend who left us too soon and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Michael Lee Alverson; and sister, Pamela Hall.

Those left to cherish their memories are her devoted husband and best friend of 47 years, Gary Alverson; son and daughter-in-law, Braeden and Marcia Alverson; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Justin Robbins; grandchildren, Josiah and Abigail Alverson; sister, Kathy Matthews; her loving church family; numerous other family and friends.

A celebration of life will be 2pm Friday, January 8, 2016 at Family of Faith Church with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
