She married Charles Barkhurst, the father-in-law of her daughter Mary Ellen,on 1 Apr 1874 in Cedar County, Iowa. At the time of this writing, there is some dispute about whether they divorced or not. She is listed as divorced in the 1880 Federal census, and widowed in the 1885 Iowa Census. She eventually moved with her daughter, Oriana Doty Riddle and her family to Benton, Arkansas, where she died.
