Roy Lee “Monk” Howell, age 73, of Chanute, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 in Wichita Kansas.

Roy was born on November 7, 1942 in Chanute, KS the son of Roy Howell and Della Whitmore Brown.

Roy attended Chanute High School.

On April 1, 1968 he married Vicki (Bowman) Howell who preceded him in death.

He worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation for 32 years before his retirement in 2006,

He was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion, and the Elks #806 Lodge. He enjoyed spending time at the lake or the golf course or working with wood at his home. Roy also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, wife Vicki, son Scott Howell, brothers Jerry Dean Howell, Delbert Howell, and Gary Lynn Howell, and a sister Lavonna “Coke” Colston

There will be a visitation Thursday, January 7, 2016 for 5-7 PM at Countryside Funeral Home, Johnson Chapel. Services have been entrusted to: Countryside Funeral Home 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS 66720
