Dubuque Telegraph Herald - August 25, 1954 - Elkader, Ia - Henry Brust, 88, son of one of the pioneers in the Elkader region died Tuesday night in McGregor Hospital where he had been taken Saturday.

Services are scheduled for 9:30 am (CST) Friday at St. Josephs Church here. Burial will be in the St Josephs Cemetery. The body is at the Witt Funeral Home here.

Mr Brust was the son of the late Mr and Mrs. John Brust who were members of the German group that established the Communia Colony eight miles south of Elkader during the 19th century. Mr Brusts father was one of the signers of the colony corporation papers.

On April 22, 1895 Mr Brust married Otillie Hochhauf and moved to a farm west of Communia. Mrs Brust died in 1927 and he retired farming the same year. For the last seven years Mr Brust has lived with Mr and Art Hochhauf, a nephew in Elkader.

Nieces and nephews survive.
