Nadine Obley, a long time resident of Junction City, KS passed away at the age of 95 on Sunday, December 27, 2015, in Folsom CA.

Lois Nadine (Patterson) Obley was born to Noble Wayne & Bessie Patterson December 11, 1920, on a farm near Oxford, Kansas. In 1925 the Patterson family moved to Junction City, where Nadine’s father began a long and distinguished teaching career in the Junction City schools.

After graduating valedictorian from Junction City High School, Class of 1938, she attended Emporia Teachers College, 1938-40. From 1940-43 she worked various bookkeeper/payroll positions in Emporia and Fort Riley

January 8, 1943, she married Lt. William (Bill) M. Obley, at Fort Riley. As an Army wife for the next 21 years she moved her family and household possessions numerous times from across the country and around the world, including Japan and Germany. Upon retiring from the Army, Bill & Nadine returned to Junction City, January 1964.

By the mid 70’s being an empty nester, Nadine decided to return to college and achieve a life time goal of hers. December 1978, at the age of 58, Nadine graduated from Emporia State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She taught at Fort Riley Elementary, Ware Elementary and Franklin Elementary, where she had attended herself.

Nadine valued her participation in various Officer Wives’ Clubs, PEO, bridge clubs and the Grandmothers Club. She cherished the good friends she made in Junction City as well as those made during her years as an Army wife.

Nadine was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Obley, May 2002.

Survivors include her children, Bill Obley and his wife Ann Schneider of Lake Oswego, OR., and Nancy and her husband Kent Kilborn of Rancho Murieta, CA.; grandchildren, Jennifer Lyster Rich of Canton, GA., Jennifer Beth and her husband Richard Arthur of Olympia, WA., Travis Obley and his wife Cori of Eugene, OR., Susan and her husband Brian Naffin of Forest Grove, OR., and Katie and her husband Calvin Park of Sloughhhouse, CA.; great grandchildren, Jake, Matt & Hannah Rich, Will & Henry Arthur, Gavin & Landon Obley, Cole, Jonah & Emma Naffin and Kailey & Logan Park.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church, 804 N Jefferson Street, Junction City, Kansas. Pastor Laurie Barnes will officiate. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the funeral at Fort Riley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Junction City, Kansas.
