BALLARD, Helen Reece, 94, passed away September 5, 2006, at Community Hospital of San Bernardino in the company of her loving family. Born on July 17, 1912, in Payson, Utah, Helen was a 28 year resident of Lancaster and a 34 year resident of Wrightwood. She was a retired teacher, having taught 21 years in Utah and Lancaster, California. Helen was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as the Relief Society President for several years. She was also active in the community, holding life memberships in the Wrightwood Historical Society and the Wrightwood Friends of the Library. For many years she was a poll worker at every election. Helen's positive outlook on life was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was loved by her family and friends and will surely be missed. Helen is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisbeth Quinn (Gerald) and Barbara Van Houten (Fred) of Wrightwood, and Maurine Ballard-Rosa (Michael) of Granite Bay; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m., with funeral services at 11 a.m., on Monday, September 11, 2006, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 888 Highway 2, Wrightwood. Interment will be in Montecito Memorial Park, Waterman Avenue and Barton Road, Loma Linda. Emerson-Bartlett Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
