Vernon Charles McHenry, Sr., 72, of Independence, Missouri, died July 29. He pastored several churches in Missouri, including his most recent pastorate, First Baptist Church at Kansas City, Kansas, where he served until loss of his sight forced him to resign two years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Delores; one son, Vernon McHenry, Jr., of Worthington, Missouri; three daughters, Dorothy Stovall of Polo, Missouri, Kay McHenry and Rose McHenry, both of Independence, Missouri; a brother, Kenneth Fletchall of Arnold, Missouri; one sister, Fern Wiley of Independence, Missouri; 13 grandchildren and one great grandson. Funeral services were held August 2 at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home with Eugene Thurman officiating. Interment was at Fletchall Cemetery in Grant City, Missouri.
