"Samuel Totten, whose death occurred the 11th inst. near Traverse City, Mich., was born in the town of Verona about seventy years ago. He was a son of Joseph and Rebecca Totten, who were early settlers in this section. He moved with his family to the state of Michigan in 1865, and located near Tecumseh. By trade he was a carpenter and a farmer as well. In politics he was a war time Demcorat. He will be pleasantly remembered by his old time friends.

Surviving are several sons and daughters, who reside in Michigan; also three brothers and two sisters, Isaac Totten of New London; Joseph and Luther Totten of Kalkaska, Mich.; Mrs. Zenas Wheeler of Rome and Mrs. Robert Crosby of Tecumseh, Mich.; Hon. William D.
