Lamont Temple Gates, 81, of Bonner Springs, KS passed away on Fri., Jan. 1, 2016 at the St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be at 11 am, Jan. 8, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS with burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the visitation from 10 to 11 am, Fri., Jan. 8 at the funeral home prior to the service. The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Luke’s Hospice House in care of the funeral home.
Lamont was born on Feb. 16, 1934 and grew up in Brandon, MS where he lived until 1982 when he moved to Bonner Springs to work at the Lone Star Cement Plant, until he retired in 1996 as a Plant Manager. Later he drove a School Bus for U.S.D. 204 for several years. Since then he and his wife have enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. visiting all of the National Parks. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Emily Ann Odom in 2002. And he is survived by his wife of 62 years Bobbie Nell Gates of the home. Three children Keith Gates of Anderson, SC; Ann Wiggins (David) of Bonner Springs, KS; and Penny Odom (Mitch) of Picayune, MS. Three brothers Roy, Jimmy and Paul Gates all of the Brandon, MS area. One sister Linda Patrick of Canton, MS. Six grandchildren Brian Wiggins, Joseph Wiggins, Matthew Gates, Lindsey Rambow, Eva Wise and Tiffany Odom. And six great grandchildren Hendrix, Aidan, Emilyn, Ari, Rosemary and Ayla.
