Iowan Drowned In New Guinea
Mrs. Clair Forret, of Booneville, Ia., formerly of Des Moines, has been advised by the war department that her husband, Pvt. Clair Forret, 28, was drowned recently in a lake in New Guinea.
Private Forret, formerly employed by the Des Moines Steel Co., entered the army May 6, 1943, and took his basic training at New Orleans, La. He was first sent to Australia and laster to New Guinea.
In addition to his widow, now living with her brother Leo King at Booneville, Private Forret is survived by a son, Ronald, and his mother, Mrs. W. E. Forret.
Memorial services will be held at Waukee, Ia., church at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
